Norfolk Through A Lens - The Book

“Norfolk Through a Lens” Wins Prestigious Independent Publisher Book Award

“Norfolk Through a Lens”, a large coffee table book featuring the works of 10 Norfolk photographers, recently won a prestigious Independent Publisher Book Award, an IPPY, in the category Northeast Regional Non-Fiction.

Norfolk Through a Lens: Visions of a Quintessential New England Town, a collaboration of Norfolk photographers, is a 172-page coffee table book focused on Norfolk. “This is not a travel book or a book about Norfolk architecture,” says author Anita Holmes. “Rather it is a book of artwork in which the 10 photographers share their special visions of Norfolk.” The images range from breathtaking landscapes to imaginative abstracts to photographic tours de force. The participating photographers are Jennifer Almquist, Peter Coffeen, Mahlon F. Craft, Bruce Frisch, Katherine Griswold, Anita Holmes, Christopher Little, James Jasper, Babs Perkins, and Rick Schatzberg. Anita Holmes wrote the text and Peter Coffeen served as photo editor.

The book sells for $65 and may be purchased through the book’s website:

Each year since 1996, the Independent Publisher Book Awards competition has identified a reading list of progressive, thought-provoking books, "the kind that can touch lives, advance careers, and stretch our imaginations." With the tag line, "Recognizing Excellence in Independent Publishing," the IPPY Awards showcase the best books of the year from throughout North America and the English-speaking world. Launched as the first unaffiliated awards program open exclusively to independent, university, and self-published titles, the awards are presented each spring at a gala ceremony during the BookExpo America convention. Winners receive gold, silver, and bronze medals and foil seals for their book covers. This year’s awards ceremony will take place at the Copacabana Night Club in New York City on May 30.
